This webpage provides a tool turns a PDF file containing the text of a book into a PDF file on A4 where the pages are printed in landscape side-by-side so that you can cut the pages and turn it into an A5 book. See Printing a Book at Home with Minimal Equipment for a walkthrough.

Prepare the Book Body

The text inside the book. Defaults to Bushido.





This can be used to move the pages more towards the middle of the book. Assuming a spine width of 10 mm, you probably want to set this to 10/4=2.5 mm. The reason is that we assume the cover will be an A4 sheet, but the spine will cause the book body to extend beyond the cover. Moving the pages more towards the middle will allow you to keep the text aligned to the middle of the page when cutting the right edge of the body.
